SHARE YOUR WORLD

In this time’s ‘Share your world’ Cee has ¬†asked us to choose four topics out of those given by him and make four lists, of at least four items each. Since I am getting back into the groove after a long interval with only occasional posts I thought this would be a good way to connect with my readers and letting them know a little more about me . So here go my lists :

  1. Stuff that makes me laugh

  • Humor based movies and TV series like Two and a half men.( Different thing I lost interest in the latter after Charlie sheen left the show ūüė¶ )
  • Jokes shared with family and friends , and poking fun of each other.
  • People who take themselves too seriously make me giggle. I feel everyone should possess a light vein. It helps break the ice.
  • My own absentmindedness !

2. Fun things for a rainy day

  • Eating hot spicy ¬†Pakoras ( ¬†Indian veggies dipped in seasoned flour and deep fried in oil) .
  • Drinking a steaming cup of coffee
  • Listening to¬† Louis Armstrong‘s ‘What a wonderful world’ … It is so positive and full of hope .
  • Rain photography especially rain drops on roses !

3.Things I want to have in my home

  • Buddha status and artifacts fill my house yet I want more ! I find Buddhist statues very calming to the senses.
  • Kerala Mural Paintings¬†on my walls. They are so bright, vibrant and exquisite.
  • Fridge magnets from across the globe (which means I want to be a globetrotter ūüėČ )
  • A warm cozy reading corner with a fireplace, which is impractical in the tropical Indian weather !

4.Places worth shopping

  • Goa in India is ideal for a beach holiday, tan and loads of shopping. The flea markets here are very attractive and vibrant .
  • Paris , I love for its fashion in dress and shoes. When I went shoe shopping there I wanted to buy the whole shop !
  • Venice for its¬†Murano Glass¬†artifacts. They are so pretty and I also love the Venetian masks.
  • Dubai , is haven for shopaholics. You can get stuff as cheap as 1 Dirham too….

So that is it for my list. Hope you did not get too bored reading through it

Now for Cee’s bonus question :

What are you grateful for from last week, and what are you looking forward to in the week coming up?

My husband has already left for Wellington, near Ooty, in the South Indian state of Tamil Nadu. And I am grateful to God that he was able to unload and unpack our stuff into our new house without hassles. In the coming week I hope to spend some time with my parents before I fly off again into the Hills of Nilgiri in Wellington with my little daughter !

The Inverted Pyramid – Weekly Photo Challenge – Angular part 1

WEEKLY PHOTO CHALLENGE – ANGULAR – PART 1

La Pyramide Inversée (inverted pyramid)is a skylight constructed in the Carrousel du Louvre shopping mall in front of the Louvre Museum in Paris ,France. It may be thought of as a smaller sibling of the more famous Louvre Pyramid proper, yet turned upside down: its upturned base is easily seen from outside.

This shot was taken in the Louvre museum , Paris , France… Yes ,the very museum that houses some of the most famous paintings such as the Mona Lisa . This picture I felt is apt for this week’s challenge , as it is angular in every sense of the words .

The inverted pyramid is of course not unfamiliar to the  The Da Vinci Code fans , where the protagonist of his novel, Robert Langdon, perceives the inverted pyramid as a Chalice, a feminine symbol, whereas the stone pyramid below is interpreted as a Blade, a masculine symbol: the whole structure could thus express the union of the genders.

Moreover, ¬†Dan Brown’s protagonist concludes that the tiny stone pyramid is actually only the apex of a larger pyramid (possibly the same size as the inverted pyramid above), embedded in the floor as a secret chamber. This chamber is said to enclose the body of Mary Magdalene.

AN ‘EAVESDROPPING’ IN PARIS !!! -[ Daily prompt ,daily post]

http://dailypost.wordpress.com/dp_prompt/head-turners/

I am not usually the kind of person who ‘eavesdrops’ on other people or pry into their personal ¬†affairs . ¬†Well , that is , unless , you are sitting or standing ,for that matter , so close in proximity to my location that my auditory cortex finds it humanly impossible to ignore such high decibel levels …..and… I give in…( okk…I eavesdrop ,or the word ¬†‘overhear’ ,will perhaps, better ¬†describe such an event ! )

Travelling to other countries , provides one of the best opportunities to ..ummm..well….‘overhear ¬†conversations , you are obviously not expected to be a part of !

I have had the good fortune to do both !

On one, ¬†of the many metro rail journeys ¬†, we undertook ,while on our sightseeing tour in Paris , many years ago , I happened to be seated next to an elderly woman. ¬†( I couldn’t discern much as to the country she belonged to ,though my hunch is that she was probably an American ..) As I sat there , the only Indian ,(apart from my husband who was standing somewhere ¬†far behind ), I tried to observe the diverse cultures represented inside that single compartment ,of the train ……..I was amazed …

It was only then, that my eyes ¬†focussed on ¬†another ¬†lady standing, next to the one sitting besides me..They looked a lot alike , except that this lady seemed a little more cheerful in disposition and of course , several years younger to the former …In any case , to me they looked like sisters…

As the train glided through the tracks , all of a sudden , a loud chattering ¬†reached my ears…It was this younger woman conversing…..

It took me another few seconds to realize that the lady was pointing in my direction …and still more , to ¬†conclude that ‘I was the topic of discussion !!!’ I ¬†pricked up my ears ¬†……

The lady, had apparently misjudged my grasp ¬†over the ‘English’ language ¬†, for she made no attempts to lower her volume ,or try to speak in hushed tones ……….( obviously confident of my incompetence ¬†! )

Here is what she said ( her voice loud and clear ! ) ¬†: ”I thought I was the one ,who wore big earrings…Somebody to your left is wearing even bigger ones !!!” ¬†She told , her friend( or sister ), with a mocking smile !

Listening to her conversation, my immediate urge was to touch my earring , to try and sort of measure it (to see if it was actually bigger than hers !!! ) , but on second thoughts I refrained from doing so…….

I wanted to save our lady ¬†some embarrassment , ¬†just in case she were to realize ¬†that not only did I understand English , but could speak in ¬†it too…….So , I kept my hands down , and pretended to look in the other direction , as though I didn’t comprehend a word ¬†that she ¬†had uttered ……..and let her have her ‘fun’ moment !!!

But my heart was still  fluttering like a trapped bird , as I smiled to myself , at the thought of having managed to  arouse such interest , in the mind of a complete stranger , in a completely  strange land !!!
