The Charm of the ‘Charminar’ – photo 101 (architecture)

photography – 101

The name CHARMINAR ,  is a combination of the Urdu words Chār and Minar , translating to “Four Towers”; the eponymous towers are ornate minarets attached and supported by four grand arches.

The CHARMINAR , built in 1591 CE, is a monument and mosque located in Hyderabad, India. The landmark has become a global icon of Hyderabad, listed among the most recognized structures of India.

I love the monochrome version , it provides a sense of mystery , a slight haunted-house feeling , yet beautiful. I also love the warmer tone , for bringing about a rustic ,old world charm to the beauty and ‘charm’ of the ‘CHARMINAR’….

To me the following picture , shot outside the room of a resort , in Kerala , during monsoons , has a certain sense of mystery. The two empty chairs , the rain…everything got me curious about the inhabitants of the room. But of course , I was never to find that out… !
