The door stared at my face

A little grim and morose

A glittering golden lock

– like a jewel it adorned

I turned away from there

for I had a new door to find

One that would be more fair

One that would be more kind…..

A door that would welcome me

with an open mind from  start

One that would have no shimmering

locks dangling from its heart

Hanuman is a Hindu god and an ardent devotee of  Lord Rama. He is a central character in the Indian epic Ramayana and its various versions. A vanara,  Hanuman participated in Lord Rama’s war against the demon king Ravana. He is believed to be the son of Vāyu Deva (wind God ) and hence is also called the Pavan putra or the son of wind .

From Brahma he obtained the power of inducing fear in enemies, of destroying fear in friends, to be able to change his form at will and to be able to easily travel wherever he wished. From Shiva he obtained the boons of longevity, scriptural wisdom and ability to cross the ocean. Shiva assured safety of Hanuman with a band that would protect him for life.
